Greetings, and welcome to the Star Fleet Corps of Discovery. If you are here, you have most likely been recruited by a trusted officer, or you are an ol' veteran who know a good fleet when they see one. The best option in joining a fleet, is to join one that is accomplished, but not "capped to the max." We are a fantastic fleet for players getting a feel for the game without being overwhelmed, and for ol' loners, or even to use another 'toon semi-regularly. All that we ask, is that you maintain some level of activity, large or small, by throwing some change in the bucket as we finalize our progression, and pick up some Fleet Credits, as you do with contributions made. To be true, we are very laid-back, low demands, not mandatory fleet actions or strapping on a headset there at home. Participate to your comfort level. Have an idea? Suuure, we could do a fleet action or something. But really, this is just a good place to hang your hat so to speak, and tinker around. Now, with all that aside, let's get to the real meat n' bones of our Fleet.
Having been part of so many epics, stories, timelines, and so forth... the fleet might be seen by some as "fractured" or incoherent. This is not entirely true however. We operate under a chain of command within Starfleet, but with a great deal of autonomy, managing the furthest reaches of man's imagination. Timelines, factions, crashing multi-verses, our mission of discovery knows no bounds. Where we once ventured forth to the Moon, the planets, and the stars beyond... we have come to understand that things can get a bit more complex to say the least. Therefore, we do operate in a quasi-independent corps, answerable to very few.
With such bizarre truths and revelations, comes responsibility. We should never be confused with a seemingly semi-nefarious Section 31 mandate or objectives. Of course, we bump into them, temporal travelers, and so forth, but we are content to sit back and see how thing unfold without need of direct action... necessarily at least. Though some are quite curious as to why such a clandestine group as Section 31 will be quick to avoid us, as much as we them.
Perhaps it could be explained most simply in the name of our Fleet from the start. While "Starfleet" generalizes Earth's projection of exploration and inevitable occasional confrontation, our fleet heralds back farther than you might imagine. Star Fleet, was not always one word, and the Corps of Discovery could be seen as a group of shipmen and navigators who ventured into the unknown. We were Star Fleet, before Starfleet. To explain much further would be to venture into a bog of confusion and quicksand. Safe enough to say though, "compartmentalized to a large degree.
Despite our "fractured" lineage, it is suffice to say that members of Star Fleet Corps of Discovery are not forbidden from speaking of things they know, with discretion, but should know that people really will think you went out for lunch and forgot your picnic basket. Most importantly though, we go forth in our adventures of exploration endeared to the highest possible values of Earth, humanity, and of the positive forward-moving ideology of the fledgling Universal Federation of Planets.
